Gilbert Safety Training Facility
Let's get down to the nuts and bolts of the proposed public training safety facility. On the ballot for a vote is the $65 MILLION dollar bond that most of the Gilbert Town Council voted in favor of. The only council members that did not vote for it were Jared Taylor and Victor Petersen, the only true fiscally responsible council members we have.
There are several issues that need to be addressed regarding this training facility, so let's get started.
The Numbers
What will it REALLY cost?
According to the project description found on page 127 of the Capital Improvement Plan, the total cost is $99, 296,000. What's really interesting is when you add the interest on the debt we'll be paying an additional $33,602,000 for a Grand Total of $132,898,000

They say there's NO TAX HIKE
The people who want you to vote yes on this $65 MILLION dollar bond are the same ones that are telling you there won't be a tax hike or that it's being done within our current tax structure. The official documents say otherwise. The fact is there will be an increase of 11.8% (or $2,616,759) increase in the debt service amount in 2020, which will increase our secondary tax rate from $0.99 to $1.09.

If you watch the video of Mayor Jenn Daniels she tells us "85% of our safety personnel are eligible for retirement in the next seven years". That's not true and you can check out the section below to see more about that.
Then she specifically says that this training facility bond will fit "within our current tax structure". As we see by the numbers that's not true.
We're getting false information
We've been told several times by several different town council members that 85% of our police and fire personel could be retiring in the next 7 years. This is false and based either on faulty math or deception. I hope it's just faulty math, but either way this is information that decisions were based on.

THIS IS INTERESTING!
Mayor Daniels is the chairperson of the YESonGilbert1 committee that is behind the efforts to convince Gilbert voters to vote yes on the $65 MILLION dollar bond. She's even donated $2,500 from her Jenn for Mayor campaign committee to YESonGilbert1. So not only is she using her status as the Mayor to convince you, she's also pushing the issue behind the scenes too.
We also need to take a look at the donor's to Mayor Daniels PAC. Some of them have received Tax incentives from the Town of Gilbert.

AZ Central
AZ Central did a story about the training facility in Gilbert and covered some of the same topics.

We hope you use this information to make an informed decision about Question #1 on the ballot for Gilbert citizens. We believe the Town of Gilbert should be looking for ways to save tax payer funds instead of constantly looking for new ways to spend.
Please vote NO for Question #1 on your ballot.
